The water well screen is manufactured by helically winding continuous V-shaped profile wire around equally spaced support rods. Each intersection point is resistance welded to form a rigid, non-clogging cylinder. The V-shaped wire creates a self-cleaning slot that allows water to enter while preventing sand and fine particles from passing through.
Non-clogging design: The continuous slot and V-shaped wire profile minimize blockage by fine particles.
High open area: Up to 35% open area ensures maximum flow capacity with minimal head loss.
Superior collapse strength: Precision welding and robust support rods provide high resistance to external pressure.
Corrosion resistance: AISI 316L low-carbon stainless steel offers excellent resistance to chloride environments and acidic groundwater.
Custom dimensions: OD, slot size, length, and end connections can be tailored to well casing specifications.

Selecting the correct slot size is critical for sand control efficiency. As a general rule, the slot opening should be approximately 50% of the median grain size (D50) of the formation sand. For example, for silica sand with an effective size of 0.35–0.65 mm, a 0.20 mm slot is recommended to ensure optimal retention while maximizing flow.
What is the difference between 304 and 316L stainless steel for water well screens?
AISI 316L contains molybdenum (2–3%) and has lower carbon content (<0.03%) compared to 304. This gives 316L superior corrosion resistance in chloride-rich or acidic groundwater environments, and eliminates the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding. For aggressive water conditions, 316L or duplex 2205 is strongly recommended.
Can you provide Mill Test Report (MTR) and PMI test certificates?
Yes. Every batch of water well screens is accompanied by a Mill Test Report (MTR) showing full chemical composition and mechanical properties. On-site PMI (Positive Material Identification) testing can also be performed and photographed upon request to guarantee the AISI 316L grade.
What is the typical lead time for a custom water well screen order?
For standard dimensions with 304 or 316L material, the lead time is 15–20 working days in low season and 25–30 working days in peak season. For large quantity orders (>5,000 pcs) or special alloys (904L, Duplex), the lead time is typically 50–60 days after deposit confirmation.
How do you package water well screens for international shipping?
Screens are individually wrapped in plastic film, then bundled in plywood crates or steel frames depending on length and quantity. For LCL shipment, we use reinforced plywood boxes with foam padding. Each package is labeled with product specifications, net/gross weight, and handling instructions.
